Atlantic’s first two releases in the new 45rpm format are in fact re-releases of two 1950 hits from JOE MORRIS and RUTH BROWN. The label’s first new 45 release is MORRIS’ “Jump Everybody Jump/Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.”

THE CLOVERS’ “Don’t You Know I Love You” – written by Ahmet under the pseudonym ‘Nugetre’ (Ertegun spelled backwards) – reaches #1 on the R&B chart in September. Considered the first modern R&B/Rock n’ Roll group on the label, the quintet go on to record 13 top 10 R&B hits, most written and produced by Ahmet.
