The new incarnation of GENESIS debuts in February with the gold-certified A Trick Of The Tail.
LED ZEPPELIN’s Presence enters the Billboard album chart at #1 upon its March release. In October, the band’s "The Song Remains The Same" premieres at New York’s Cinema I. The film – which blends concert footage from 1973’s three-night stand at Madison Square Garden with impressionistic fantasy interludes – is accompanied by a two-LP soundtrack, released by Swan Song in September.
Black And Blue, the sixth consecutive chart-topping Atlantic album for THE ROLLING STONES, is released in April.
HOT CHOCOLATE’s Mickie Most-produced “You Sexy Thing” becomes the British funk outfit’s biggest U.S. hit, peaking at #3.
In May, Aussie hard rockers AC/DC make their Atlantic debut with High Voltage, a compilation of their first two Australian albums.
THE SPINNERS win more gold with the October smash, “The Rubberband Man.”
THE TRAMMPS’ “Disco Inferno” tops the dance charts upon its initial release but won’t become a mainstream pop success until its inclusion on the soundtrack to the 1977 classic, "Saturday Night Fever".
