When the word “intern” comes to mind, most people picture a college student grabbing coffee or making copies. As an intern in the publicity department at Atlantic Records, I can assure you, that is not the case! There is no “average” work day as an intern, and everyday is exciting, always with something new and different to do. Getting to work on projects for some of your favorite musicians is great, and it’s even cooler when you see them in the office! But the job of publicist doesn’t end in the office, there are many occasions when they attend concerts, photo shoots, TV appearances, and award shows. Recently, I was lucky enough to take a trip out of the office to help out at a Twist magazine photo shoot for Atlantic recording artist Cody Simpson.

It was really cool to meet Cody in real life after working on various projects for him over the course of my internship. From his upbeat music you can tell that Cody’s probably a fun and friendly 14 year old, but in real life he’s even more charismatic and outgoing that I could have imagined. Cody just finished his Coast  To Coast mall tour and released his new EP, Coast  To Coast. As busy as Cody may be, he seemed to have a great time on set, playing music and joking around. At just fourteen years old, Cody was professional beyond his age. It was really impressive to see how hardworking he is, while he still acts like a normal fourteen year old.

Besides getting to hangout with Cody all day, it was really great to get a behind the scenes look at how photo shoots and interviews work. Opportunities like this are what makes interning at Atlantic such an awesome experience. So check out some photos from the shoot below and be sure to listen to Cody Simpson’s new EP Coast  To Coast.
