It's an established fact that Marina & The Diamonds is the most enchanting pop star ever. Right? Right. Now that we've got that out of the way, we can begin to discuss her blazingly brilliant new single, "Primadonna," and its epically flawless accompanying video.
"Primadonna" is a monster song, a muscular uptempo joint produced by Dr. Luke, Cirkut and Diplo (!!!) that sees Marina in full force as her alter ego, Electra Heart (the title character of her new album), a narcissistic drama queen who leads a life of debauched pleasure. "I'm a primadonna girl, yeah/ All I ever wanted was the world/ I can't help that I need it all/ The primadonna life, the rise and fall," Marina (or is it Electra?) coos over sparkly instrumentation, before grinding four-on-the-floor synths drop again, but the song is full of viciously clever lines.
