Born this day, January 14th 1938, Allen Toussaint, American singer, musician, composer and record producer. Toussaint worked with Paul Simon, Joe Cocker, Paul McCartney and Wings, The Band, Lee Dorsey, and the Neville Brothers. His songs have been performed by the likes of The Yardbirds, Otis Redding, Ringo Starr, Alex Chilton, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Hollies, Robert Plant, and Alison Krauss.
Allen Toussaint was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009. He was also inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in May of 2011.
